FELIX GEBHARD – Early In The A.M

FELIX GEBHARD is an artist from Berlin, Germany. He works with both sound and photography and to date, his past music discography consists of various contributions of acoustic instruments and vocals. Whilst as a musician, FELIX has lots of work available such as ‘Exit FELIX GEBHARD EP’ available on Bandcamp and the excellent forthcoming EP from his band Home Of The Lame, ‘Early In The A.M’ is his first solo release in the experimental scene and we are delighted to present his work to you via Audio Gourmet. If somehow you’re familiar with FELIX‘s work as a musician, then you may need some kind of sonic-sorbet to cleanse the pallette before clicking play here. His solo work adopts a completely different approach.”Müder Vatter” and “Sleeping Bag” are two recent pieces made whilst FELIX suffered from sleep deprivation induced by what he describes as ‘his childrens’ crazy night time schedules’.The EP continues our double-bill of music inspired by a lack of sleep and conveys the artist’s feeling of tiredness, recording in the kitchen at 2am, knowing that someone will wake him up before long. The resulting sound is centered around noise, which is presumably FELIX trying to stay awake whilst he creates! The shards of noise are well arranged here, carefully detailed and always evolving. ‘Mueder Vater‘ is a fine example of this – if you move the placer through the track every 20 seconds, you will hear something new with each move to the right. Yet, play the track continuously and it all flows together beautifully. ‘Sleeping Bag‘ builds to a crescendo of noise before tapering off into a closing passage of light drone, as if he were nodding off to sleep as he loses the fight to stay awake…[press text] Download “Early In The A.M” of FELIX GEBHARD for free @ Audio Gourmet!
