Monolyth & Cobalt – Eilean

Mathias Van Eecloo, the man behind Monolyth & Cobalt, began to work with music over five years ago when he was intending to create soundtracks to black and white photo slides that he had made. Not long after these initial experiments, Monolyth and Cobalt was born and he hasn’t looked back. Since its inception, the project has seen his works released on Simon Scott’s Kesh label, Feedback Loop as well as compilation appearances on Denovali, Progressive Form and Vintermusik. Perhaps the most ambitious project that he has achieved is The Clyde Parker Project. This began in 2009 and was completed in 2011 and including a massive collaboration with 100 artists from various countries and horizons with no musical borders boundaries. His music is composed mainly with various acoustic instruments (harmonium, piano, various strings, melodica, Clarinet, xylophone, Autoharp…) tape and fields recordings. Then, the layers, tones, and textures are recorded with electronic hardware. All the pieces of sounds were originally recorded in one shot improvisations, with no computer activity.
